Moriah School of Englewood Class
2-3
Welcomes
Mayor Wildes
On
Friday, May 9th, Class 2-3 had the pleasure and honor of welcoming Englewood's
Mayor (and classmate Jaclyn's
father), Michael Wildes. Mayor Wildes told the class all about how, when
he was only 12 years old, he knew he wanted to do whatever he could to
help people. Since that time, Mayor Wildes has achieved that goal in many
forms. Over the years he has been a police officer, a lawyer, a town council
member, a member of Hatzala in Manhattan, mayor of Englewood, and a husband
and father. Mayor Wildes stressed to the children how, even at their age,
by acting kindly and helping people out, they can not only make people
feel good and have a positive affect on other people's lives, but they
can also make a Kiddush Hashem , giving people a good impression of Jewish
people.
The children and teachers
really enjoyed the presentation and came away with a clear message of
how important it is for us to help the entire community, not just the
Jews or those who live immediately around us. We would like to thank Mayor
Wildes for his presentation and for all the goodies he handed out.
Mayor Wildes
spoke at his daughter's, Jaclyn Wildes' class during a visit to the
Moriah School of Englewood. Mayor Wildes' spoke with the students and
told the children all about the jobs and responsibilities that a mayor
has. The class learned that Mayor Wildes makes sure the streets are cleared
of snow and leaves. They also discussed the hundreds of marriages Mayor
Wildes conducts at City Hall!
