We call your attention to a notice received from the NLC concerning recognition for immigrant integration initiatives.
The E Pluribus Unum prizes are a national awards program coordinated by the Migration Policy Institute's National Center on Immigrant Integration Policy and will provide four $50,000 awards annually to exceptional initiatives that promote immigrant integration. The awards program is open to government entities and agencies, nonprofit and community organizations as well as private businesses.
If your municipality or community group has engaged in such successful initiatives of all types, we encouraged you to apply. These awards will focus attention on successful programs that can be replicated and serve as program models to others. Detailed information on what is meant by immigrant integration, selection criteria, etc. can be accessed at the following link: www.migrationinformation.org/integrationawards/Integration_Awards_Info.pdf
Members of the League's Immigration Task Force has participated on numerous panel discussions on various issues relating to immigration policy, one of which was a hearing by the Governor's Blue Ribbon Advisory Panel on immigrant integration at the municipal level. The session on Immigration: Language Access at the Local Level was hosted by the League at the Annual Conference as recent as two weeks ago.
Thanks for your attention.
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr. Michael Wildes, Mayor, Englewood Executive Director Chair, League's Immigration Task Force
